Common Strawberry
Between June and July, the small, white, 5-petalled flowers of this plant will become pollinated and tiny flavourful red berries will grow in their place. Mammals such as mice, marten, red fox and black bear, enjoy these tasty morsels, high in Vitamin C.
Ferns
Today’s ferns are stunted remnants of their giant ancestors that grew 300 million years ago. Like mushrooms, ferns reproduce by spores. They appear long before flowering and seed producing plants.
